OnePlus has started rolling out the stable OxygenOS 16 for the OnePlus 12, after other flagships like the OnePlus 13, 13s and 13R recieved them earlier this week. The update is currently only live in India with version CPH2573_16.0.0.201(EX01), and is expected to arrive in other regions soon. Powered by Android 16, the new software brings smoother performance, fresh AI features, and a revamped user interface.

Performance and Smoothness
OxygenOS 16 introduces refined animations across the system. Home screen icons, widgets, folders, and the Smart Sidebar now move with fluid drag-and-drop motion. Text selection magnifiers appear and disappear smoothly, and the status bar transitions seamlessly when opening the notification drawer or Quick Settings. Charging and fingerprint animations have been updated with new light effects. Scrolling and app transitions now respond more accurately to touch.
The Trinity Engine improves real-time resource management to maintain performance during gaming, video playback, or camera use. It loads photo albums faster, uses less power, and enhances cached video previews in supported apps. Power Saving Mode adjusts performance based on battery level to extend usage without reducing responsiveness.
AI Features and Tools
The update adds several AI-driven features across the system. Mind Space includes a Mind Assistant for searching saved content and creating collections. AI Photos improves album navigation, adds video editing tools for merging, cropping, and transitions, and supports new motion photo collages. The AI Portrait Glow feature adjusts lighting automatically for better portrait results.
AI Notes introduces block editing for text, images, and tables, along with advanced formatting options and one-link sharing for complete notes. AI Recorder detects the type of recording, applies noise cancellation, and generates shareable transcripts. AI Writer helps create text for notes, work summaries, or social media posts. AI VoiceScribe now provides automatic summaries and context-based insights from calls and recordings.
Design and Customization
OxygenOS 16 includes a redesigned visual experience with new light and shadow effects, enhanced depth, and the One Serif font for better readability. Weather visuals now render in real time using the Luminous Rendering Engine. Core apps such as Clock, Calculator, and Compass feature updated designs.
The Flux Home screen offers a cleaner layout, motion wallpapers, lifelike icons, and larger folder formats. The Always-On Display shows wallpapers, widgets, and notifications. Themes now adapt to wallpaper colors, and users can set custom text and shortcuts on the lock screen.
Connectivity and Camera Upgrades
Touch to Share allows instant sharing of photos, files, and notes. OnePlus Connect lets users mirror their phone to a PC, copy and paste text between devices, and search files across platforms. My Devices in Quick Settings provides a single view of connected devices.
The Camera app adds motion photos in Master mode, enhanced Portrait mode, AI-powered document scanning, and text scanner support. Game Assistant now records gameplay in high quality, blocks interruptions, and offers motion screenshots.
