Here’s another top 10 cars feature. These are my top 10 cars for sale by Iconic Auctioneers at the Classic Motor Show 2025. The cars that I chose are the cars that I personally would like to own, add to my collection, or am very tempted by.

I have to say that this was the biggest collection of cars that I’ve ever seen for auction by Iconic Auctioneers at the Classic Motor Show. I was reliably informed that there were 340 cars and 260 motorbikes for sale. Absolutely bonkers.

Does this say something about the economy? In my opinion, it probably does. The cost of living is very high. People don’t have a lot of disposable income. So, maybe many people are cashing in for now, until (hopefully) better times, just as Harry Metcalf has recently done. He had three cars here for sale (see the video below).

So, here we go with the cars that caught my attention and as I am posting this article after the show and auction I can highlight the sale price.

    1. 2015 Porsche 550 Spyder – Hans Herrmann Homage

Iconic Auctioneers said: An absolutely pin-sharp homage to the Hans Herrmann Carrera Panamericana racer, a beautifully engineered and seriously rapid little 550 Spyder replica.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (2015 Porsche 550 Spyder - Hans Herrmann Homage - front side view)
    • ESTIMATE: £30,000 – £40,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: What a distinctive-looking, rare, and wonderful car. I think this car is very reasonable money. Very cool.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (2015 Porsche 550 Spyder - Hans Herrmann Homage - driver view)

    Sold for: £29,250 (total cost)

    2. 1985 Ferrari 208 GTB Turbo

Iconic Auctioneers said: Part of the John Pogson/Italia Autosport Collection for the last few years, with just over 17,000 miles. This is not a restored example, but beautifully ‘factory’ original pretty well throughout. A special opportunity to acquire an exceptional example of a very rare model that is befitting of any discerning ‘Prancing Horse’ collection.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1985 Ferrari 208 GTB Turbo - front side view)
    • Odometer reading: 27,700 km (17,211 miles)
    • ESTIMATE: £85,000 – £95,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: A car in great condition. Obviously, someone has really looked after this car. It’s a rare 208 GTB Turbo, and the price is probably fair.

Sold for: Did not sell, auctioneer asking for £91,900 (total cost) post auction

    3. 1979 Porsche 911 SC Targa

Iconic Auctioneers said: Smart right-hand drive SC, fresh to market following a long period of single-family ownership and offered at an attractive estimate.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1979 Porsche 911 SC Targa - front side view)
    • Odometer reading: 66,239 miles
    • ESTIMATE: £35,000 – £40,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: Probably one of the largest temptations I had. I very much like the look of the car. It’s different, which anyone who knows me will know I like that fact. The car is in very good condition, paintwork-wise and internally. It has very low mileage for the year. Unique looking. I was tempted.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1979 Porsche 911 SC Targa - rear side view)
    Classic Motor Show 2025 (1969 Porsche 911T 2.7 RS Homage - interior)

Sold for: Sold for undisclosed sum. Normally this means outside the sale and for less than auctioneer wanted.

    4. 1982 Porsche 911 SC Targa

Iconic Auctioneers said: A simply superb Hellbronze Metallic 911 SC Targa, benefiting from an extensive restoration and engine rebuild in the past, and substantial recent expenditure.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1982 Porsche 911 SC Targa - front view)
    • ESTIMATE: £50,000 – £60,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: A very cool car. I love the interior. It’s much better than a bland, one-colour leather option. This car has 124,274 miles on the clock.

Sold for: Sold for undisclosed sum. Normally this means outside the sale and for less than auctioneer wanted.

    5. 2022 ‘C-Type’ by Realm

Iconic Auctioneers said: An evocative and well-executed homage to Jaguar’s 1950s Le Mans legend, combining timeless looks with proven Jaguar running gear and modern usability.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (2022 C-Type by Realm -front side view)
    • Odometer reading: 5,859 miles
    • ESTIMATE: £45,000 – £50,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: What a beautiful car. Most people can’t afford an original, even if they could find one. I have no issues with replica cars. Ninety-nine per cent of the world wouldn’t know the difference. It provides great fun for less money, and you’d be less concerned about having to have every single original part when something breaks. I certainly would be tempted to buy a car like this in the future. Looks very coll ann lots of fun.

Sold for: Sold for undisclosed sum. Normally this means outside the sale and for less than auctioneer wanted.

    6. 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL

Iconic Auctioneers said: An elegant, UK-registered 190 SL in a rare colour combination, an older restoration with charming original interior, and requiring light recommissioning.

    Classic Motor Show 2025 (1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL - side view)
    • ESTIMATE: £60,000 – £70,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: For sure, this is another car I would like to own at some point. I’m just not sure this is the one for me, being left-hand drive. I’m also not sure I would buy a car like this at auction, as if there’s a lot to do and fix, it’s going to cost you lots and lots of money.

    Classic Motor Show 2025 (1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL - rear side view)
    Classic Motor Show 2025 (1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL - interior)

Sold for: Did not sell, auctioneer asking for £59,500 (total cost) post auction

    7. 1969 Porsche 911 T 2.7 RS Homage

Iconic Auctioneers said: A 1969 B-series 911T rebuilt as an homage to the legendary 2.7 RS, fitted with a recently rebuilt genuine, fast road-spec 2.7 and classically presented in Guards Red.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1969 Porsche 911T 2.7 RS Homage - rear side view)
    • Mileage: This car has 67,008 miles on the clock.
    • ESTIMATE: £65,000 – £75,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: I absolutely love the shape of these Porsche 911s, but I couldn’t justify £65,000 to £75,000. This car is also left-hand drive. In red, it’s very cool.

Sold for: Did not sell, auctioneer asking for £74,750 (total cost) post auction

    8. 1959 Morris Mini Minor

Iconic Auctioneers said: Dating from September 1959, this early floor-start Clipper Blue Mini Minor hails from Bonnie Scotland.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1959 Morris Mini Minor - front side view)
    • Odometer reading: 76,621 miles
    • ESTIMATE: £6,000 – £8,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: Very honest, very early car. Certainly there will be work to do if you want it to be immaculate, but for someone who’s got time and a bit of spare cash, it’s a nice project.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1959 Morris Mini Minor - interior)
Classic Motor Show 2025 (1959 Morris Mini Minor)

    Sold for: £5,850 (total cost)

    9. 1971 Fiat 500L

Iconic Auctioneers said: A freshly restored left-hand drive Fiat 500L, upgraded for modern usability whilst retaining its period charm, offered without reserve.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1971 Fiat 500L - front side)
    • Odometer reading: 70,433 km (43,765 miles)
    • ESTIMATE: £6,000 – £8,000 (offered without reserve)
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: A very cool car. Beautiful looking. Excellent condition. Excellent price point. I was super tempted. If right hand drive I may have put a bid in.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1971 Fiat 500L - rear side view)
    Classic Motor Show 2025 (1971 Fiat 500L - interior)

    Sold for: £8,100 (total cost)

    10. 1971 Austin Mini Cooper 1275 S Mk3

Iconic Auctioneers said: An original, UK-supplied, Mk3 Mini Cooper S in wonderfully usable condition, retaining its Hydrolastic suspension and desirable factory features.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1971 Austin Mini Cooper 1275 S Mk3 - front side view)
    • Odometer reading: 68,348 miles
    • ESTIMATE: £12,000 – £15,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: This car is in wonderful condition, and I think for that money, it’s good value. Not a lot of work would need to be done that I can see from the outside. Nice colour and beautiful internal condition. Low mileage for the age, Tartan red, what’s not to love.

    Sold for: £20,250 (total cost)

    Honourable Mentions (Bonus Cars)

OK, so I know I’ve covered 10, but I thought it was worth mentioning these couple of left-field cars, that I also loved.

1956 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Series VI Rally Car

Iconic Auctioneers said: Accompanied by its FIVA Passport and a Steinbacher Report, this very desirable, right-hand drive, Series VI B20 GT would be a welcome entry into many of Europe’s most prestigious historic motoring competitions.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1956 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Series VI Rally Car - front side view)
    • ESTIMATE: £50,000 – £70,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: A very cool-looking car. Certainly unique. I’m not tempted. It’s too much money for me for a car that I wouldn’t use. But it will surely make someone happy.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1956 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Series VI Rally Car - front view)
Classic Motor Show 2025 (1956 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Series VI Rally Car - interior)

Sold for: Did not sell, auctioneer asking for £51,750 (total cost) post auction

1991 Alfa Romeo SZ – One of 100 UK Examples – 17,000 Miles

Iconic Auctioneers said: An ultra-rare Alfa Romeo SZ, hand-assembled by Zagato and known as Il Mostro – one of just 100 UK-supplied examples.

    • Odometer reading: 17,060 miles
    • ESTIMATE: £60,000 – £70,000
    • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl. VAT)

My view: I was tempted to cash in some savings and put a bid on this Alfa Romeo SZ, a car I would like to own at some point. But this version was in a very used condition. The paintwork was not very good and was always scratched. With an estimate of £60,000 to £70,000, I think that’s too much. Granted, it only has done 17,000 miles, but I don’t think it’s been very well looked after.

Classic Motor Show 2025 (1991 Alfa Romeo SZ - rear side view)
Classic Motor Show 2025 (1991 Alfa Romeo SZ - interior)

    Sold for: £65,250 (total cost)
