Amazon’s weekly catalog of movie and TV deals features a wide selection of contemporary and classic horror, including numerous 4K Blu-rays with steelbook cases you can only find on Amazon. The retailer’s new 4K Steelbook Editions of the first three Halloween movies are on sale for their best prices yet. The discounts aren’t massive, but Amazon-exclusive editions aren’t discounted very often. Halloween (1978) Steelbook Edition is on sale for $39.49 (was $45), and Halloween II’s Steelbook Edition is discounted to $37 (was $45). Both of these editions released in September and were followed in late October by Halloween III: Season of the Witch Steelbook Edition, which is on sale for the first time.

All three Halloween Steelbook Editions are distributed by Shout Factory and part of Amazon’s massive sale on Shout Factory movies. A few Halloween 4K Blu-rays with slipcovers instead of steelbooks for 50% off or more: Halloween (1978) is $19, Halloween III is $13.49, and Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is $18.49.

Amazon is also offering a large discount on The Halloween 4K Collection–The Curse of Michael Myers, H20: 20 Years Later, and Resurrection–that drops the price to $69 (was $130). The Halloween 4K Collection is only way to watch 4K Blu-ray editions of two of the films made from 1995-2002. For another three-movie collection, check out the Walmart-exclusive Halloween Trilogy Steelbook Edition on 4K Blu-ray for $40 (was $50).

Check out the new Steelbook Editions and our roundup of every Halloween movie on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD below.

    $39.49 (was $45)

The Limited Edition Steelbooks for Halloween I and Halloween II feature close-up character art of Michael Myers. Half of his face is on the front cover, while the other half is on the back, so you could open each case to display the full picture. The design is also essentially reversible, as it looks cool regardless of which side is facing out. The background artwork depicting moments from the movies.

This is the same 4K Blu-ray edition that was originally restored by Shout Factory in 2021. The 4K disc supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. Audio formats include Dolby Digital Mono–to replicate the original sound–and Dolby Atmos as well as Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound. The 4K restoration was approved by Halloween’s cinematographer Dean Cundey.

Interestingly, this edition only comes with one 4K Blu-ray and one Blu-ray disc. Shout Factory’s 2021 Collector’s Edition has three discs; the bonus disc has the extended cut in HD. The missing Blu-ray disc had the extended cut in HD. That said, you’ll still get a bunch of notable bonus features and a cool case commemorating one of John Carpenter’s best films.

    Disc 1 (4K Blu-ray):

    • Audio Commentary: John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis
    • Audio Commentary: Dean Cundy (director of photography), Tommy Lee Wallace (editor), and Nick Castle (actor)

    Disc 2 (Blu-ray):

The 1080p Blu-ray is based off of the 4K restoration. It has both audio commentaries listed above and:

    • Documentary: The Night She Came Home
    • TV Version Footage
    • Theatrical Trailer
    • TV Spots
    • Radio Spots

It’s worth noting that Walmart recently released an exclusive 4K Blu-ray edition of Halloween, too. It’s not a steelbook edition, but it comes with a slipcover, and the standard Blu-ray disc includes all of the special features from the original Shout Factory release. Plus, it’s only $27.

    $37 (was $45)

Halloween II’s Limited Edition Steelbook features a similar steelbook design, with artwork that spans both the front and back of the case. Inside the case is additional artwork inspired by Halloween and Samhain–an old Celtic festival that marked the end of the harvest season.

This three-disc set comes with 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and a DVD. It matches the 2021 Collector’s Edition in terms of bonus content and technical specifications. The 4K disc is rendered in native 4K resolution with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10. Cinematographer Dean Cundey approved for the restoration from the original camera negative. Audio formats include Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD 7.1, Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0, and Dolby Digital Mono (for the DVD).

Here’s the list of special features for each disc:

    Disc 1 (4K Blu-ray):

    • Audio Commentary: Rick Rosenthal (director) and Leo Rossi (actor)
    • Audio Commentary: Dick Warlock (stunt coordinator)

    Disc 2 (Blu-ray):

Most of the special features are found on the 1080p Blu-ray, which is based off of the 4K restoration, so it looks better than the average Blu-ray. You’ll get both audio commentaries and the following extras:

    • Documentary: The Nightmare Isn’t Over – The Making of Halloween II
    • Horror’s Hallowed Grounds
    • Deleted Scenes with optional director commentary
    • Alternate ending with optional director commentary
    • Movie Stills Gallery
    • Posters And Lobby Cards Gallery
    • Theatrical Trailer
    • Teaser Trailer
    • TV Spots
    • TV Promo
    • Radio Spots
    • Newspaper Ad Still Gallery By Drive-In Asylum

    Disc 3 (DVD):

    • Television Cut in original SD aspect ratio (4:3)
    • Film Script (DVD)

    $40 (was $45)

Halloween III: Season of the Witch released just one year after its predecessor, but the 1982 film was quite the departure for the series, as it’s the only entry in the series without Michael Myers. It’s not even a slasher movie; as the title suggests, Halloween III is more of a sci-fi movie with witchcraft. It was intended to be the first in an anthology of movies. It received poor reviews when it debuted in theaters, though it was being compared to Michael Myers slasher movies. It’s part of the series in name only, really, but it’s actually a pretty awesome film that many fans appreciate and enjoy these days–you just need to view it as its own thing, rather than part of the broader Halloween slasher series.

The Limited Edition Steelbook mirrors Shout Factory’s excellent 2021 Collector’s Edition that is only $13.49 at Amazon as of December 12. Like the first two films, this is a superb native 4K restoration from the original camera negative–approved by cinematographer Dean Cundey–with Dolby Vision and HDR10. For audio, it supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0.

The two disc set comes with 4K Blu-ray and 1080p Blu-ray discs. Here’s the list of bonus features:

    Disc 1 (4K Blu-ray):

    • Audio Commentary: Tommy Lee Wallace (director)
    • Audio Commentary: Tom Atkins (actor)

    Disc 2 (Blu-ray):

The Blu-ray is based on the 4K restoration and includes the two commentaries and the following bonus features:

    • Documentary: Stand Alone: The Making Of Halloween III
    • Horror’s Hallowed Grounds
    • Interview With Tom Burman (make-up effects artist)
    • Stills Gallery
    • Theatrical Trailers
    • TV Spots
    • Radio Spots

    Halloween 4 and Halloween 5 on 4K Blu-ray

Shout Factory’s 4K Blu-ray Collector’s Editions are also available for the fourth and fifth films, The Return of Michael Myers and The Revenge of Michael Myers. Each Collector’s Edition comes with a slipcover. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is discounted to $18.49 at Amazon. Halloween 5 is sold out at Amazon, but you can grab a copy for $30 at Walmart.

    Halloween 1-5 on 4K Blu-ray

    • Halloween (1978)
    • Halloween II (1981)
    • Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
    • Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
    • Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)

Halloween 1-3 on Blu-ray and DVD

    The Halloween Collection: 1995-2002
    The Halloween Collection: 1995-2002

Following the release of The Revenge of Michael Myers, the series took another extended break before returning in 1995 with The Curse of Michael Myers. It was followed up by Halloween H20: 20 Years Later in 1998 and Halloween: Resurrection in 2002. The 1995-2002 films are collected in box set format on 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and DVD. The box set is the only way to get these three movies on 4K Blu-ray for a reasonable price. Halloween H20 released on 4K in 2023, but it’s out of print and priced around $40 from third-party sellers. Standalone editions of each movie on Blu-ray and DVD are out of print as well, so the box set is the way to go regardless of your desired format. As mentioned, The Halloween 4K Collection is discounted to $69 (was $130). For an absolute bargain, check out the 3-Movie DVD Collection for only $5.

    Halloween Series: 2018-2022

    Halloween Trilogy - 2018-2022Halloween Trilogy - 2018-2022
    Halloween Trilogy – 2018-2022

The modern trilogy that kicked off in 2018 is also available in box set format on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD. Each collection includes: Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021), and Halloween Ends (2022). Each movie in the modern trilogy is also available as a standalone 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray combo pack. The 4K Blu-ray standard edition of the Halloween Trilogy is on sale for $52 at Amazon, but you can snag the Halloween Steelbook Trilogy on 4K Blu-ray for only $40 at Walmart. The 1080p Blu-ray version is down to $24.66 at Amazon.

We’ve also included each individual movie in the trilogy on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD. At the moment, all of the box sets are cheaper than buying the films individually. That said, Amazon has a Steelbook Blu-ray Edition of Halloween (2018) for only $15.

    Rob Zombie’s Halloween Films: 2007-2009

Rob Zombie’s 2007 and 2009 remakes aren’t canon, but they are worth checking out. Unfortunately, both movies are only available on 1080p Blu-ray and DVD.

    Friday the 13th Steelbook Edition — $18 ($31)
