While Motorola is busy releasing overpriced new Moto G-series handsets in the US, increasing the prices of existing members of the same mid-range smartphone family, and preparing overpriced 2026 additions to the Razr foldable line, Amazon is treating bargain hunters to a totally unexpected and ultra-rare deal on a 2025 Moto G device.
We’re not talking about the modest Moto G (2025) here, mind you, but the slightly higher-end Moto G Power (2025). This was released at a recommended price of $299.99 last year, and fortunately for Motorola’s cash-strapped fans, the 6.8-inch handset managed to escape the company’s price “revisions” from a few weeks ago.

Even better, Amazon is now selling an unlocked variant in a Slate Gray colorway for a cool 100 bucks under that list price, which is a discount we’ve only seen offered once or twice in the past. And never this year. It also beats Motorola’s best current first-party deal by $40, and perhaps most importantly, it undercuts the Moto G Power (2026) at its new regular price by an incredible $200.
That’s right, the unlocked Moto G Power (2025) with no special requirements and no strings attached is half as expensive as its sequel, which hasn’t really brought many substantial upgrades to the table earlier this year. Basically, the Moto G Power (2026) only packs a slightly bigger battery than its predecessor and an improved selfie snapper while keeping everything from the screen size and resolution to the rear camera specifications, charging speeds, and even the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor unchanged.

With 128GB internal storage space and 8GB RAM, as well as a hefty 5,000mAh battery capable of 30W charging, the Moto G Power (2025) clearly delivers much better value than the 2026 edition at a whopping $200 less, and I’m really not sure if you can get better bang for your buck from a budget 5G phone made by a different company right now.
Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G, for instance, is slightly cheaper than the Moto G Power (2025) but also a lot humbler in terms of both design and specifications. Then you have something like the newly released Galaxy A37 5G, which is arguably a little better than Motorola’s 2025 big-battery mid-ranger in a number of key areas… while costing $250 more. That’s a pretty easy choice to make, don’t you think?
