Reviews That Sparked Joy In 2025 For The FPS Review
It’s been quite a year for computer hardware, with the RTX 50xx series and Radeon RX 9000 cards arriving and impressing us with their performance, albeit not the price points. There were some disappointments, the RTX 5090 is nowhere near as impressive as the RTX 4090 was at launch, but still offers the best performance you are going to get from a GPU.
AMD also finally released the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs, extending their impressive 3D V-Cache technology to the new family of chips. The Phison E28 controller boosted SSD performance even further beyond what most people need, apart from bragging rights that is. There weren’t any new motherboard chipsets released but we did see refreshes of dozens of models incorporating USB-4 in some flavour or another.
Picking the best of 2025 is a hard choice, with most of the good news happening in the first half of the year. The second half of 2025 was definitely full of news but unfortunately most of it was bad. Take a moment to forget about all that and focus on the good things we saw, like the hardware The FPS Review chose for the best of 2025.
