Refusing DNA collection not an option Thirty-year-old Grace Cooper was also in the designated “free speech zone” when she was arrested in a clash that she described as “the most terrifying 90 seconds of her life.” It was her first time at a Broadview protest, and Cooper didn’t know what to expect. On that day, Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino allegedly arbitrarily ruled that the designated area was suddenly a “free arrest zone,” then ordered protesters to move quickly from the area or else face arrest. Although Cooper immediately turned to comply, an agent grabbed her from behind and “slammed…
On paper, more face time with Fox, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy should be exactly what Star Fox players want. While Nintendo has historically neglected the space combat series, fans still have a soft spot for its characters, and celebrated seeing Fox show up in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. So a remake of Star Fox 64 with a new coat of paint and additional story segments should be exactly what the doctor ordered…right? Well, the new photo-realistic designs of those beloved characters are not sitting well with folks, and one reason is that without the stylized look of previous Star…
Summer is right around the corner. We’re headed out on adventures and bringing our stuff with us. Here are all the tech and tips that WIRED Reviews recommends for your travels.I did it. I caved and did something completely out of character as a seasoned Reviews editor: I made an impulse purchase with zero prior research. When I was in the airport with my family last week, I walked into one of the insanely expensive Hudson News kiosks and bought a pair of (relatively) cheap wired headphones. They cost me $15 (but they’re much cheaper if you buy them before…
Maxis is finally giving The Sims 4 babies (and toddlers, and children) a major, needed overhaul, including upgrades like having Sims pick up dirty diapers off the floor and stopping Sims from repeatedly picking up and putting down infants over and over again. This comes from a “laundry list” shared by Maxis today highlighting over 150 fixes and new features coming in an update on May 12, many of which have to do with infants and toddlers. Some of the changes were instigated by feedback from recent polls asking The Sims players what their most-wanted fixes and changes were, with…
OpenAI’s relationship with Microsoft, its longtime investor and cloud partner, has grown increasingly complicated over the years as the ChatGPT-maker has grown into a behemoth competitor. But Microsoft executives had reservations about sending additional funding to OpenAI as far back as 2018 when it was just a small nonprofit research lab, according to emails between more than a dozen Microsoft executives, including CEO Satya Nadella, shown in a federal court on Thursday during the Musk v. Altman trial. The emails show how Microsoft, at the time, wavered over what has since been held up as one of the most successful corporate partnerships…
Ubisoft has announced a number of new accessibility features coming to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced when it launches July 9. The full list of additions includes a number of features not present in the original Black Flag, including several that seem to address issues criticized by accessibility advocates in the original. First on the list is colorblind options, with color presets that impact not just the UI but all color-coded effects in the game, like special attacks and the glows from Eagle Vision. Resynced will also include both optional screen narration and improved subtitles with an additional “Largest” size…
We put 36 sunscreens to the test during summer hikes, spring ski days, and beachside hangs. Out of all the mineral, chemical, and spray varieties we tried, these are our top picks.
I was already very excited to play Warner Bros and TT Games’ upcoming Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight when it arrives on consoles and PC later this month. But a new launch trailer, out now, somehow has me even more pumped up to play this plastic brick spin on an open-world Arkham-like Batman adventure when it lands on May 22. And you can thank Seal for that, I guess? On May 7, WB released what is likely to be the last big, new trailer for its upcoming Lego Batman game. Normally a launch trailer isn’t much to write…
Last month, the cryptocurrency-based online casino Duel aired a blackjack livestream that it said would be hosted by former pro kickboxer turned controversial masculinity influencer Andrew Tate. But while the dealer—a bald man with dark stubble, wearing a black T-shirt, tight suit, and sunglasses—bore a resemblance to Tate, he didn’t act much like the swaggeringly macho and voluble streamer. His mostly silent performance was punctuated by sudden bouts of singing, vigorous twerking, and still more ridiculous dance moves, the most impressive being a full split on the blackjack table. He also spontaneously made out with a male assistant posted to his…
Blindfire was released back in October 2024 with a unique hook: It was an online first-person shooter set in the dark and was built around finding your enemies or remaining out of their sight. Sadly for developer Double Eleven, it never found much of an audience. Now, a year after its last patch, Blindfire will get one last big update and will go free, with devs promising to keep the servers on because they are “proud of it” and want to preserve it for others. On May 7, Double Eleven posted an update on Blindfire’s official Steam page announcing that…
