Pebble , a smart ring for recording thoughts. It’s a little ring with a built-in microphone and that’s about it. The Index 01 is almost anti-tech in its simplicity. There’s no needless AI component shoehorned in, aside from speech-to-text. It’s a ring with a microphone that you whisper ideas into and I want one. Here’s how it works. You get an idea while walking down the street, so you quietly whisper it into the ring. The ring sends the idea to a notes app or saves it for later review. There’s an awkward phenomenon that happens with this job from time to time: you might play something for a bit pre-release, not feel it at all, and then see a bunch of your respected peers start lauding it with praise. You expected this game to come and go with minimal chatter, but now people you know and trust are assuring you it’s worth seeing through. That’s what happened to me with Skate Story, a game I (perhaps dismissively) said “could have been a screensaver” and I would have liked it more. But hey, I’m not so closed-minded that I’m not…

In our review, Engadget managing editor Cherlynn Low was impressed enough with the watch to give it an 86, but called out the lack of gesture-based interactions. The new one-handed gesture features, like double pinch and wrist turn, should make up for that.In an industry that involves constant borrowing of ideas, it should come as no surprise that these features are very similar to those available on the Apple Watch. Double pinch works much the same to…

It’s difficult to resist raising an eyebrow at an Oklahoma robbery suspect’s alleged recent weapon-of-choice. According to several Oklahoma news outlets including WKTUL, a 24-year-old man was arrested on December 6 by Tulsa police after allegedly robbing a liquor store using what employees described as an “old-timey musket.” Authorities soon apprehended and charged the suspect before providing some additional details about the weapon. “For those who are curious, the firearm is likely from the mid-1800s and…

King of Meat developer Glowmade will layoff “around a dozen people” early next year, according to a new report from Insider Gaming. These “voluntary redundancies” come just two months after the multiplayer party game hit Steam and after it reportedly failed to hit an ambitious 100,000 concurrent player target. King of Meat peaked at just 320 people on PC instead. Over the past few days, several Glowmade developers posted to LinkedIn that they’re looking for work. The U.K.-based studio published King of Meat in October, backed by Amazon Game Studio. Insider Gaming reported that discussions around the layoffs began earlier…
