While the JBL headphones aren’t as premium as, say, the Sony WH-1000XM6, they’re still a pretty solid pick for many. Plus, we haven’t seen them at a lower price in quite some time, so they’re obviously a great bargain. Act fast and save before this post-event promo disappears. But what exactly does this headset offer? Quite a bit, actually. For starters, they feature a lightweight, foldable design and spacious cushioned earpads, making them ideal for longer wear. I test a lot of indoor gardening systems throughout the year, and the midcentury-chic Auk has remained my all-time favorite for herbs. Not only can you plant whatever seeds you want in its coco coir substrate (though it does come with parsley and basil), it takes very little maintenance, requiring only periodic refills of water and nutrients. There’s also no app to worry about, or pumps, or pH testing needed. This makes it a perfect no-muss, no-fuss gift for cooks, gardeners, or anyone at all interested in growing their own herbs.Courtesy of AukPhotograph: Kat MerckPhotograph: Kat MerckI almost never see…

China’s efforts to slow land degradation and climate change by planting trees and restoring grasslands have shifted water around the country in huge, unforeseen ways, new research shows.Between 2001 and 2020, changes in vegetation cover reduced the amount of fresh water available for humans and ecosystems in the eastern monsoon region and northwestern arid region, which together make up 74% of China’s land area, according to a study published Oct. 4 in the journal Earth’s Future. Over the same period, water availability increased in China’s Tibetan Plateau region, which makes up the remaining land area, scientists found.”We find that land…

In a lot of social media use, the algorithm is an intangible entity, silent and all-powerful in controlling what we see in our feeds. And like supplicants to a deity, sometimes we may find ourselves calling into the void, hoping to receive aid from that mighty being. Seems that for Threads users, at least, those prayers have been heard. Many people on the Threads platform have taken to writing posts with the phrase “dear algo,” politely asking the network algorithm to show them more of what they want or less of what they don’t. According to a post today from Meta…

Many of the proposed bills include a clause for ID or age verification, which forces people to upload an ID, allow…

A new free mod for Grand Theft Auto IV breathes fresh life into the early PS3-era open-world game and its aging visuals, making the dated blockbuster look almost as impressive as some modern releases. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV launched on Xbox 360, PS3, and (eventually) PC all the way back in 2008. While the console versions were great and are fondly remembered to this day by fans, the PC release was a mess that was often cited as one of the worst AAA ports of that era. But thanks to some official updates and the hard work of fan…
