A good song can easily get a listener nodding their head or tapping their foot along to the beat. While you may not initially realize you’re doing it, those physical responses to music are still conscious decisions that you can stop whenever you want. According to neuroscientists, however, music also has the ability to influence even some of our involuntary movements. In a study published on November 18 in the journal PLOS Biology, researchers demonstrated humans will often even start blinking in time with a song.…
AI is making it harder to find a job. AI-driven Application Tracking Systems (ATS) can dump your resume before a recruiter has ever seen it, even if you have all of your qualifications clearly spelled out. TopResume takes the guesswork out of the process by giving you a fresh, professionally-written resume, as well as a free resume review that focuses on these tracking systems—essential in a time where AI is making the decisions on who moves forward in the interview process.TopResume doesn’t offer a ton of discount codes, coupons, or promos. TikTok is the latest social platform to hand users more control over the amount of AI-generated content they see. The app is experimenting with a new setting that will allow users to request to “see less” AI in their “For You” feed. The new toggle will be available in “the coming weeks” in the app’s “manage topics” section that lets people personalize the types of videos more likely to appear in their feed. In a blog post, TikTok says the control is meant to help users “dial things down” if they want to see less AI content in their recommendations. The…
Earlier this fall, Apple rolled out its new Live Translation tool as part of the Apple Intelligence bundle. And honestly, the name gives it away – it’s all about letting you talk to someone in another language without the awkward pause, the “wait, let me type this,” or the classic panic smile people do when they don’t understand a word.Everything runs on on-device generative models, which means the translations happen locally on your iPhone. That setup keeps things private by design, and for a feature like this, that’s one of its biggest advantages. How does Live Translation work in the real…
The cost of gaming is too damn high. Seriously, these machines just keep going up in price and every year it feels like we’re getting closer to $90-$100 games. You’re not supposed to look a gift horse in the mouth, but let’s be real: nobody wants something that they don’t need. What’s worse, if one gets a gift that’s too condescending, the feelings can quickly turn sour.Such is the story of a super loyal Verizon customer, who got a free Shutterfly calendar (minus the shipping cost) for sticking with the Big Red for 25 years. The frustrated customer assessed it as a “slap in the face” and others reported they got the same freebie for sticking with Verizon for many years in a row (and they were equally unhappy with…

But as any coin collector knows, some pennies are worth more than others. For example, a single mint-condition 1909 Lincoln wheat penny is currently valued at around $21, while an even rarer “Indian Head” penny from 1859 can sell for as much as $986. While it’s unclear how much the very last pennies ever produced are worth, purchasing them at an upcoming auction will undoubtedly cost much more than pocket change. After 232…
Other factors stemmed from social changes, the judge suggested, describing the fourth factor as a trend where Meta app users started feeling “increasingly bored by their friends’ posts.” “Longtime users’ friend lists” start fresh, but over time, they “become an often-outdated archive of people they once knew: a casual friend from college, a long-ago friend from summer camp, some guy they met at a party once,” Boasberg wrote. “Posts from friends have therefore grown less interesting.” Then came TikTok, the fifth factor, Boasberg said, which forced Meta to “evolve” Facebook and Instagram by adding Reels. And finally, “those five changes…
Cloudflare wrongly suspected that the widespread outage that took numerous websites offline on November 18 was caused by a DDoS attack, the company’s CEO has admitted. In his blog post that breaks down what happened, however, Matthew Prince explained that after realizing their mistake, his team was able to fix the issue. “The issue was not caused, directly or indirectly, by a cyber attack or malicious activity of any kind,” he wrote. It was instead caused by a change to its database systems’ permissions, which led to an issue with a file used by its Bot Management system. The company’s Bot…
Nintendo Switch users squint at the 7-inch handheld screen for hours on end and lose important visual details and straining their eyes in marathon gaming sessions. Portable monitors solve that by turning handheld consoles into proper gaming rigs wherever you go and acting as secondary displays for laptop productivity. This 15.6-inch monitor gets 1080p resolution in an ultra-thin frame, now sitting at $49 instead of the usual $59 price tag. That pricing undercuts budget gaming controllers but offers functionality that fundamentally shifts how you work and play on the go. The monitor itself weighs just 1.43 pounds with a built-in…
