Back in December, Battlefield 6 came under fire for releasing cosmetics that appeared to be made at least partly with generative AI. As Kotaku reported at the time, EA was aware of the issue and trying to investigate the cause throughout the winter break. Were players right to freak out? EA isn’t saying. The closest we’re getting to an answer is a new patch that changes some of the in-game items accused of being slop. “Updated the Objective Ace and Winter Warning cosmetics to better align with Battlefield’s visual identity,” reads one of the changelog notes for Friday’s 1.1.3.6 Battlefield…

And HDD Prices Are Spiking Too; Yay Friday should offer a glimmer of hope, some sort of happy news instead of the steady drum of bad things we hear everyday; 2026 disagrees with this tradition.  A variety of sources have confirmed ASUS are discontinuing NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB, saying they’ve reached ‘end of life’.  This doesn’t reflect NVIDIA’s statement that these models will continue to be produced.  One might suspect that the issue is not that these cards are EOL but rather that ASUS would prefer to save that memory for more profitable cards. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said it received more than 1 million reports of AI-related child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in 2025. New species may have evolved surprisingly quickly after the asteroid impact that wiped out the nonavian dinosaurs, researchers have found.New plankton species may have appeared less than 2,000 years after the Chicxulub impact, which occurred about 66 million years ago, adding to an ongoing debate over how quickly new species arose in the wake of the collision. This suggests life rebounded much faster than scientists previously thought, researchers report in a study published Jan. 21 in the journal Geology.”It’s ridiculously fast,” study co-author Chris Lowery, a paleoceanographer at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics, said in a statement. “This…

Get Your System Now Before You Have To Start Treating It Like Buying An Engagement Ring! Lenovo has released an interesting tiny PC, the ThinkCentre neo 50q which is powered by a 3.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon X X1-26-100.  That will certainly help with the price, unfortunately it also uses LPDDR5X-8448 in either a 16GB model or a 32GB version which likely comes with sticker shock for free. It sips a mere 26W, impressive compared to Intel and AMD’s 35W processors but unfortunately the benefit of that lower power draw matters a lot less on a system with no battery.  It measures…
