Samsung’s next big software update may have just lost its surprise factor. Days before the One UI 8.5 beta is expected to go live for the Galaxy S25 series, what appears to be the full changelog has spilled online — and it’s a long one.

The leak comes from well-known tipster Tarun Vats, who shared details from internal test builds. While Samsung will likely save a few additions for the later stages of development, the current feature list already paints a clear picture of where the platform is headed: more AI, deeper ecosystem features, and a lot of thoughtful quality-of-life improvements.
Galaxy AI is getting smarter in places. Photo Assist reportedly supports continuous image generation so users can keep tweaking edits without cluttering their gallery. Bixby also gets a major conversational boost — you can speak casually, issue more complex commands, and even open a history panel to revisit previous interactions.

Samsung is also putting serious effort into making its devices work better together. A new Storage Share option surfaces files from linked Galaxy phones, tablets, PCs, and TVs right inside the My Files app. Quick Share gains smarter contact suggestions based on who appears in your photos, plus the ability to automatically block sketchy requests. Wireless audio sees upgrades too, including expanded Auracast features and faster Smart View casting shortcuts.
On the personalization front, Samsung finally addresses a long-standing annoyance: lock-screen clocks covering faces in portrait wallpapers. The system now automatically adjusts the layout. The weather widget gains new visuals like air quality and rain charts, and the Clock app adds improvements such as a time-zone slider and weather-matching alarm themes.
Elsewhere, there’s a redesigned Battery settings page, stronger power-saving options, upgraded Samsung Health tracking (including medication and mindfulness), tighter theft-protection, small but useful DeX refinements, partial screen recording, and more accessible controls throughout the UI.
The first beta build is rumored to arrive in mid-December for the Galaxy S25 series, with more devices to follow. Based on this leak, One UI 8.5 isn’t about flashy overhauls — it’s Samsung smoothing out the rough edges across the entire Galaxy experience.
