Samsung is teasing a new version of its Freestyle portable projector, and the early message is pretty clear: it’s brighter. The upcoming Freestyle+, expected to be shown at CES 2026, looks like an attempt to address one of the original model’s biggest drawbacks.

From what Samsung has shared so far, the design stays largely the same. The projector keeps its cylindrical shape and rotating stand, letting users aim it at a wall, ceiling, or floor without much effort. That flexibility has always been the Freestyle’s main draw, and it doesn’t look like Samsung wants to mess with it.
The bigger change is brightness. Samsung is quoting 430 ISO lumens, which is a noticeable jump over the original Freestyle’s 230 lumens. Portable projectors are often hard to use unless the room is very dark, so this increase could make a real difference in everyday use — at least on paper.
There are also some new software tricks. Samsung is introducing something it calls AI OptiScreen, which handles autofocus, keystone correction, and screen alignment automatically. There’s also a wall calibration feature that adjusts colors depending on the surface, which could help when projecting onto painted or textured walls.
Like earlier Freestyle models, the Freestyle+ runs Tizen OS, so it doesn’t need a separate streaming device. Apps, Samsung Gaming Hub, and a built-in 360-degree speaker are all part of the package, with optional soundbar pairing through Q-Symphony.
Samsung is expected to share full specs and pricing during CES 2026. Whether the Freestyle+ ends up being a meaningful upgrade will likely come down to how much that brightness boost holds up outside controlled demo rooms.
