32 Inches OF 4K 240Hz QD-OLED Pleasure
The latest generation of one of Samsung’s flagship monitor lines, the Odyssey G8 uses third-generation QD-OLED technology; oddly no fourth-gen at this size is available, that stops at 27″. This might have something to do with the fact the Odyssey G8 will run you $1400 and one would expect a fourth-gen model would be even more expensive. The 3840 x 2160 screen has 138 PPI and TweakTown felt it was a little less bright than previous models. Samsung also opted to integrate their Gaming Hub and Smart TV apps into the Odyssey G8, which will appeal to some but not everyone.
As for gaming, the new anti-reflection coating on the Odyssey G8 is the best that TT has ever seen and they were also impressed with the saturation of the colour profile. The panel is often on sale for around $1000 which makes it even more impressive, but there are also competitors which have the same panel and retail for a bit less. If you want the added media support though, the Odyssey G8 is the only one with those features.
