Lenovo is arguably the only major PC brand that’s going all-in on rollable laptop displays. After debuting the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable AI PC at CES 2025 and shipping it commercially in June, the company is looking to expand the lineup with a new model at CES 2026.
According to Windows Latest, Lenovo is planning to show off the new ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept PC in January.

Like its predecessor, the Rollable XD plays with the idea of a screen that can physically change size. It will feature a 13.3-inch display in standard mode, but can expand vertically into a towering 16-inch workspace.
The display rolls backwards!
What makes this concept especially interesting is how Lenovo is handling the rollable panel. According to Windows Latest, the company is using a transparent glass back instead of the usual metal or plastic housing. Behind that glass is where the flexible panel curves or rolls when not in use.

The idea is undeniably cool, but it also means that a large portion of the flexible screen will always remain exposed. According to the report, Lenovo and Corning have addressed this by using a 180-degree Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 layer.
Lenovo may also be taking advantage of this outer screen by allowing information from the inward display to be shown externally. Windows Latest even claims its sources describe the Rollable XD as a preview of Lenovo’s next generation of “contextual intelligent devices.”

As you’d expect, AI is part of the pitch. The ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept is said to support AI-powered live translation, a voice assistant, and multiple input methods, including touch, swipe gestures, and voice controls for launching apps or switching modes.
Whether this ever becomes a real product is still an open question, but Lenovo is clearly committed to exploring how far laptop displays can physically stretch.
