
As part of Final Fantasy Fan Fest today, Square Enix’s Naoki Yoshida reminded fans that the end is nigh for the PlayStation 4 version of the long-running online game Final Fantasy XIV, with Yoshida joking that people should start saving now for a PS5.
“While Sony has allowed us to ‘limit break’ certain requirements, we’re quickly approaching the physical limit,” Yoshida said on stage. “You have two years to save up for a PS5.”
The PS5 just went up in price, rising all the way to $900 for a PS5 Pro for those who want the highest-end experience possible. The cheapest PS5 you can buy now is the $600 digital edition, and that’s $200 more than what the system cost when it launched. Sony attributed the price hikes to the “global economic landscape.”
