A Smaller Version Of The Dark Rock Pro 6
Overclocking is still fun but there are a new crowd of enthusiasts more interested in under-volting, quiet operation and extending the potential lifetime of their hardware. The Dark Rock 6 Pro is for the former but the BeQuiet! Dark Rock 6 will be more popular with the latter. It’s slightly smaller, measuring 102.4 x 139 x 162 mm and weighing almost exactly 1kg, with a single 135 mm Silent Wings PWM fan. That fan can be set to not even fire up until your CPU hits temperatures requiring the fan to spin at 40% of it’s top 2000 RPM limit. That could mean truly silent operation when your system isn’t under load.
When you do need the Dark Rock 6 to cool a toasty CPU Guru3D’s testing shows it performs better with AMD systems than Intel but either way the cooler will always produce less than 40dBA sound pressure. It will struggle with a heavily overclocked CPU, but that’s not what the Dark Rock 6 is for.
