Platinum Games May Be Reviving The Last Surviving Turtle
The developers behind Bayonetta and NieR: Automata seem to be a good choice to bring TMNT back to the PC, as it should be a game focusing on ninja skills and fast paced combat. This would be nice as most of the TMNT games since Turtles in Time were not spectacular. This time the game will be based off of a relatively new comic book series called The Last Ronin, where all but one of the Turtles are dead. The comics kept the identity of the last surviving turtle a secret for a bit so they could give a surprising reveal, but we shall see how the game copes with that.
We may see some licensing fights before The Last Ronin is released, as Black Forest Games and THQ Nordic never technically cancelled their version. Instead it was abandoned after the mass layoffs made it impossible to proceed with. To make things more fun, Paramount is the actual owner of TMNT and their intellectual property, and they are the ones that chose Platinum Games to take over development of the game.
Keep an eye out for what sort of legal battles ensue, before we can battle Shredder’s granddaughter as The Last Ronin.
