While an enormous sea lion named Chonkers makes a splash in San Francisco, you don’t have to live in the Golden City to sneak a peek. Viewers can watch the action from home with Pier 39’s livestream as this 2,000-pound Stellar sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus) cozies up with the smaller California sea lions (Zalophus californianus) that “haul-out” along the docks on Pier 39. To watch the Pier 39 livestream, scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see “VIEW THE SEA LIONS…
The Bluetooth connection has also been improved, from Bluetooth 5.0 to Bluetooth 5.3. As anyone who has ever experienced having 45 different strangers’ headphones pop up on your iPhone in an airport, the improvement in connection stability is the most noticeable in Bluetooth-heavy environments; I didn’t notice any dropouts. You can also now plug the headphones into your phone to reduce latency and for better sound quality, which is a bit useless for me since I’m one of the vast majority for whom lossless audio makes no difference. As far as the sound goes: These are some of the best-sounding headphones…
Last month, SNK revealed that Kenshiro, star of Fist of the North Star, would be the final Season 2 DLC character for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in June. However, that left May unspoken for, and fans were wondering who would fill the void.Today, during a special presentation at Evo Japan, SNK unveiled the next DLC character would be another crossover character, but this time from a franchise in SNK’s portfolio: Mr. Karate, the mask-wearing martial artist from Art of Fighting, is next up–but this Mr. Karate is different from the one we’ve seen before. In previous SNK fighting…
Whether it’s having the “eye of the tiger” or being lionhearted, references to lions and tigers evoke power and determination. That’s not surprising given these animals are both large, powerful felines. But they are distinct species. So what do these iconic cats have in common, and how are they different? To answer this question, let’s consider the two species’ appearances, evolutionary histories and how they live their lives as kings of their ecosystems.Appearance and anatomyThe most obvious difference between modern lions (Panthera leo) and tigers (Panthera tigris) is their distinct physical appearances, particularly their coats. People are still reeling from Disney’s mass layoffs last month, including Ant-Man‘s Evangeline Lilly. The Marvel actor who played the Wasp opposite Paul Rudd recently put out an Instagram video blasting the cuts and suggesting that the threat of generative AI looms large over the unexpected downsizing of Marvel’s visual development team. “I reached out to my good friend Andy Park, who was the genius behind creating the original Wasp super-suit and the original Wasp concept drawings for the film Ant-Man and the Wasp, and just said, ‘Is this true? Is this really what’s happening?’” she said in a video posted…
Amazon’s cloud customers will need to wait several more months before the US tech company can repair war-damaged data centers and restore normal operations in the Middle East. The announcement comes two months after Iranian drone strikes targeted three Amazon data centers in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain—meaning that full recovery from the cloud disruption could take nearly half a year in all. The Amazon Web Services (AWS) dashboard posted an April 30 update describing how its UAE and Bahrain cloud regions “suffered damage as a result of the conflict in the Middle East” and are unable to support…

Rise, the Artemis II crew’s ridiculously adorable zero-gravity indicator, is now available for purchase. On the NASA Exchange website, you can pre-order your own diminutive plushie for $24.99 plus shipping, along with other Artemis goodies including stickers, magnets, hoodies, and more. Patience is a virtue, however. Due to an “extended production time,” NASA is warning collectors that their own, personal Rise may take up to eight weeks to ship. Zero-gravity indicators—usually a stuffed animal or something…
“Today, we led the nation protecting women, children, and everyone in public life from the harm caused by AI nudification technology,” Maye Quade said. “Companies that make this technology available for free online and in app stores will no longer be allowed to enable predators who abuse and victimize adults and children with the click of a button.” Celebrating the law’s passage, Maye Quade thanked “the victim-survivors who made this bill a reality.” “They have shared their story in committee, with reporters, and with law enforcement with dignity and courage,” she said. “Their power, brilliance, and advocacy is why we…
Another media outlet is retreating from gaming. The A.V. Club has laid off its full-time gaming editors as it refocuses its resources on its “core strengths” of movies and TV. It’s the latest casualty of Paste Media ownership repeatedly fumbling the ball. “We regret The A.V. Club couldn’t be a home to expanded video games coverage once again,” the company wrote in a statement. Paste Media, originally organized around a print music magazine, went online-only in 2010 and expanded into video games with the Paste Games vertical. After several brief tours by different editors, including Kotaku alumnus Kirk Hamilton, it…
