You might recognize Bosch as a home appliance name (thanks to its partnership with Siemens), but the German multinational brand’s core business is really about providing the underlying technology and engineering that powers cars, homes and factories around the world. That focus is reflected at CES 2026, where much of what Bosch is unveiling is intended to be licensed to other companies rather than sold as Bosch-branded products on store shelves.Case in point is Bosch’s automotive plans at CES. The company is showcasing what it calls “AI in the car,” or more specifically, in the cockpit of the car. “Bosch’s…
Hey, Theranos? Ever heard of it? Erstwhile founder and current felon Elizabeth Holmes may have drastically overstated her claims by saying you could take a bunch of affordable health tests with one drop of blood, but the company was trying to address a real problem. Many people get a panel of blood tests as part of their routine wellness check, and they’re not fun at all. Blood tests are inconvenient to schedule. You have to fast for at least eight hours beforehand for many of them, and it’s hell if you’re scared of needles. This year, fitness tracker companies like Oura and…
Four scouts on an end-of-year trip, flying across the world for what should be a life-changing experience. What could go wrong? An engine malfunction. The squad crash-lands somewhere in the Pacific. They’re the only survivors on a mysterious island that only grows stranger the deeper they venture and the longer they stay. This is Peak.Sound familiar? The stories of Lost, the Emmy-winning 2004 mystery-laden drama series, and Peak feel like two parallel tracks that move in an eerily similar and magnificent way. The mystery only grows–in both depth and complexity–the further you get, whether you’re marathoning episodes or climbing up…
A unique cipher that uses playing cards and dice to turn languages into glyphs produces text eerily similar to the glyphs in the Voynich manuscript, a new study shows. The finding suggests that an equivalent cipher could have been used to create the mysterious medieval manuscript. The new cipher — called “Naibbe,” from the name of a 14th-century Italian card game — does not decode the medieval Voynich manuscript, but it offers an idea for how the manuscript was made. The Voynich manuscript, which has been radiocarbon-dated to the 15th century, contains roughly 38,000 words written in glyphs that have never been…
Honorable MentionsCourtesy of iFitiFit: Unfortunately, so many fitness apps require proprietary equipment. But if you’ve got the itch to travel, I recommend iFit, which partners with NordicTrack, ProForm, and FreeMotion equipment. You get world-class athletic instructors with jaw-dropping natural scenery from all over the world for workouts that are both stunning and entertaining. I may not be able to ride a pump track with Ashleigh McIvor in real life, even if there wasn’t a pandemic. But on iFit’s platform, I laughed out loud from the exhilaration of flying behind her as the bike tilted up and down. I loved it…

It’s no secret that babies have more bones than adults: Whereas newborns can have 275 to 300, with smaller bones fusing and hardening to create larger bones as the children grow older, most adults have only 206. (Having tinier, softer bones gives babies the extra flexibility they need to curl up in the womb and make their way through the birth canal.)But is it possible for adults to have extra bones? Some adults do indeed have more than 206 bones. These extras, known as accessory bones or supernumerary bones, may occur when bones do not fuse together the standard way during…
