Call of Duty players have been waiting for the franchise to leave last-gen consoles behind for quite some time. The versions on PS4 and Xbox One don’t run well, and there’s a perennial feeling that old hardware is holding the annualized blockbuster shooter series back in some way. Well, those players have finally gotten their wish. Activision shot down recent rumors that this year’s Call of Duty, rumored to be Modern Warfare 4, might appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. “Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true,” the series’ social media account posted on X on…

To support long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars, NASA and industry are developing technologies that can extract resources such as hydrogen and helium-3 from lunar soil, known as regolith. This capability, known as in-situ resource utilization (ISRU), allows explorers to use what is already available on other planetary bodies, from water ice to minerals. These resources could eventually support propulsion, energy production, life support systems, and other needs for astronauts living and working in deep space. To advance ISRU technologies, NASA has awarded a firm‑fixed‑price contract of $6.9 million over the next year and a half to Interlune of…

Max Bhatti and the four other engineers at Basalt Space worked 22 hours a day in March to assemble the startup’s first satellite so it would be finished in time for a launch deadline. “It makes 996 look like a vacation,” says Bhatti, the CEO. To keep electronics free of contamination, the team operated in a well-ventilated tent that Bhatti boasts is more dust-free than a hospital. It sits in one of three adjacent apartments the company leases in San Francisco’s Lower Nob Hill neighborhood. The apartments have been home and office for the Basalt team for the past two years,…

Looking online, it seems there have been approximately 64,534 Star Wars games released since the first film hit theaters in the ‘70s. (Editor’s note: That’s incorrect.) But, while many of them are good, some are really, really good. These are the kind of games that are so great that even non-Star Wars fans can’t deny how excellent they are. For this list, we didn’t set any restrictions. New games, old games, PC games, console games, handheld games, remakes, ports, and more were all valid options. Basically, anything that is considered a video game and has Star Wars slapped on the…

Also known as Endurance, MK1 is an uncrewed cargo lander funded by Blue Origin as a commercial demonstration mission to advance Human Landing System capabilities in support of NASA’s Artemis program. The tests in Chamber A represent a public-private partnership model, with Blue Origin conducting work through a reimbursable Space Act Agreement. Endurance will demonstrate precision landing, cryogenic propulsion, and autonomous guidance, navigation, and control capabilities in support of future lunar surface operations. In addition to its primary objectives, MK1 will carry two NASA science and technology payloads under the CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative to the lunar South…

Ultraloq Bolt Fingerprint for $200: I have now tested three different Ultraloq smart locks over a year and a half, and while I think the company offers excellent hardware for the money, there are just a few too many software quirks that put these locks a rung below our top picks. I first began with the Bolt Fingerprint, which has been the most reliable of all the Ultraloq smart locks. If you have a standard door with a borehole for the dead bolt, it’ll be quick to install (Ultraloq has a Thick Door Kit ($10)). I initially had several issues…

Colin Angle, the guy who co-founded iRobot and helped put robot vacuums in millions of homes, just unveiled his new company and forthcoming product. The new venture is called Familiar Machines & Magic and it’s making robots for companionship, and not for sweeping floors. They are called Familiars and are being described as “physically embodied AI systems to perceive, adapt and interact with people in ways that feel natural and consistent.” That sounds like a pet, but with loyalty and love replaced by algorithms. “The next era of robotics is not just about dexterity…

Resident Evil Requiem toys with the idea that Leon Scott Kennedy, one of the beloved faces of Capcom’s horror series, may be on his last job. He’s got a mysterious infection that threatens his life, and he spends much of the ninth mainline game grappling with the possibility of his imminent death.  In the game’s early hours, this tension seems to be setting up Requiem as a pivot point for the series, with an older generation of survivors passing the torch off to newcomers like the very green FBI agent Grace Ashcroft. When I played the game myself, I was…

On March 30, 2026, the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) and the NASA Science Activation program’s Learning Ecosystems Northeast (LENE) project hosted the third installment of the Findings from the Field Student Research Symposium.
