NASA has selected the University of Alabama at Birmingham to provide the necessary systems required to return temperature sensitive science payloads to Earth from the Moon. The Lunar Freezer System contract is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award with cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery orders. The contract begins Thursday, Dec. 4, with a 66-month base period along with two optional periods that could extend the award through June 3, 2033. The contract has a total estimated value of $37 million. Under the contract, the awardee will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective hardware and software systems NASA needs to maintain temperature-critical science materials, including…
But the problem goes beyond a change of aspect ratio. Remastering shows that were originally shot with more primitive technology sometimes goes horribly awry, like an I Love Lucy clip that went viral last year showing a pair of once-blurry background actors brought into so much focus that they now looked like surreal Picasso sketches.I visited the set of Frasier in the late ’90s, as the TV industry was preparing for the shift from standard to hi-def. As I admired the decor of Dr. Crane’s living room, one of the acclaimed sitcom’s producers lamented that all of it would look…
ExpressVPN, one of the best VPNs, is launching two brand-new features that sound confusingly like things it already does. Users on Android, Mac and iOS (but apparently not Windows, Linux or smart TVs) can now use Fastest Location to automatically pick the VPN server with the fastest download speed and lowest latency. Mac users are also getting an overhauled ExpressVPN app designed to work natively with MacOS.If you’ve used ExpressVPN before, your first reaction probably went something like “Wait, didn’t it already have a Fastest Location button and a Mac app?” You’re not wrong, but there’s still a meaningful difference…
Stranger Things season five’s finale episode, which is also the series finale, will go live on Netflix on New Year’s Eve. To celebrate that, Lego and Netflix have teamed up with the series creators to create a $300 set that I’m not sure really hits the mark. And I’m a big Stranger Things fan and Lego sicko. On December 2, Lego and Netflix revealed a new elaborate Stranger Things-themed set that is based on the Creel House first seen in season four. This is the place where a young Henry Creel lived and where some horrific shit went down. It…

If you’re a Fubo subscriber, you’ve certainly noticed that NBC and all NBCUniversal-owned channels have gone dark on the platform. For over a week, customers have gone without NBC programming like the Today Show, The Voice, and Sunday Night Football. Now, customers will have to find alternate methods of watching this week’s NBA coverage on NBC, too. It’s all because Fubo and NBCUniversal are having a contract dispute, so channels like NBC, USA Network, Telemundo, and Bravo have been unavailable on Fubo since Nov. 21, and as of now, there’s no projected date for their return.A message released by Fubo…
If you’re near Rochester, New York, the price for a carton of Target’s Good & Gather eggs is listed as $1.99 on its website. If you’re in Manhattan’s upscale Tribeca neighborhood, that price changes to $2.29. It’s unclear why the prices differ, but a new notice on Target’s website offers a potential hint: “This price was set by an algorithm using your personal data.”A recently enacted New York State law requires businesses that algorithmically set prices using customers’ personal data to disclose that. According to the law, personal data includes any data that can be “linked or reasonably linked, directly…
NASA and industry partners will fly and operate a commercial robotic arm in low Earth orbit through the Fly Foundational Robots mission set to launch in late 2027. This mission aims to revolutionize in-space operations, a critical capability for sustainably living and working on other planets. By enabling this technology demonstration, NASA is fostering the in-space robotics industry to unlock valuable tools for future scientific discovery and exploration missions. “Today it’s a robotic arm demonstration, but one day these same technologies could be assembling solar arrays, refueling satellites, constructing lunar habitats, or manufacturing products that benefit life on Earth,” said…
Earlier this year, Bungie found itself in the center of an unexpectedplagiarism scandal. The studio’s upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, was found to have included work lifted from online artist Antireal without her knowledge or consent. Bungie fessed up and apologized, claiming it was an accident. Now, five months after the controversy, the artist, Antireal, has posted on X stating that the “Marathon art issue has been resolved with Bungie and Sony Interactive Entertainment to my satisfaction.” The Marathon art issue has been resolved with Bungie and Sony Interactive Entertainment to my satisfaction. — N² (@4nt1r34l) December 2, 2025 This comes…
Ireland’s media regulator, Coimisiún na Meán, has announced investigations into both TikTok and LinkedIn for possible violations of the European Union’s Digital Services Act, Reuters reports. The investigations are focused on both platforms’ illegal content reporting features, which might not meet the requirements of the DSA.The main issue appears to be how these platforms’ reporting tools are presented and implemented. Regulators found possible “deceptive interface designs” in the content reporting features they examined, which could make them less effective at actually weeding out illegal content. “The reporting mechanisms were liable to confuse or deceive people into believing that they were…
