The year has gotten off to a flying start, and looking ahead, there are many highly anticipated games coming in 2026. How well will they score when they arrive? That remains to be seen, but, as in previous years, we’ll keep track of all the games that hit a review score of at least 8 and list them below. That doesn’t mean that games that fall below that threshold aren’t worth your time, as they can still entertain you for hours on end if you can overlook some of their flaws. We’ll also be keeping track of those titles below, but…

A curious omission Google users were more willing to excuse AI in 2024, but the backlash is real in 2026. People are increasingly looking to avoid AI features, which makes this 4GB stealth download all the more questionable. Google’s obsession with AI has led to numerous stumbles, even when the company has ostensibly good intentions, because we are all (rightly!) hyper-focused on how this technology is impacting our lives. Some of those “good intentions” seem to have made the Chrome situation worse. As users sought ways to remove this AI model, many looked for the settings toggle. This happened to…

After The Hobbit, Reality Fracture is the penultimate mainline set for 2026 before Star Trek drops in November. It’s the culmination of what the in-universe story has been building to since Phyrexia: All Will Be One that sees longtime hero Jace Beleren take on a more villainous role. In a sort of What If? scenario, Jace creates the Echoverse, an alternate reality that sees iconic other characters, locations, and cards shift. This will be done through changing mechanics, but popular characters like Chandra will have their colors swapped to their opposite, like changing her from a red to a blue…

French prosecutors yesterday opened a criminal investigation into Elon Musk and X, escalating a probe into sexual images of minors and other alleged illegal content on Musk’s social network. The action came three months after French law enforcement authorities raided X’s Paris office and summoned Musk for questioning. Prosecutors wanted to interview Musk and former X CEO Linda Yaccarino in April, but they did not appear. The earlier request to interview Musk and Yaccarino was described as voluntary. Authorities are now seeking to compel them to appear for questioning with the threat of criminal charges. In addition to sexual images…

“ARCADE IS DEAD,” developer Housemarque abruptly decreed in all caps on its blog shortly after Matterfall’s release in 2017.This candid manifesto explained how the team saw no future developing the arcadey games it had specialized in for over two decades and was moving onto different genres. Returnal was the result of this shift in focus, taking the aesthetics and chaos inherent to Housemarque’s house style and throwing it all into a roguelike third-person shooter. It was a cult hit that saw critical acclaim, but Saros, Returnal’s spiritual sequel, seems to rebuke that glorious foundation by shunning the very genre with…

Like many others, I first used Instacart during the early days of the pandemic when it was a lifesaver. Literally. As the primary caretaker of my immunocompromised grandmother, I was at a loss for how to do something as simple as feed her without risking dangerous exposure. And although I love delivery from a restaurant, it’s expensive and unhealthy. With Instacart, I was able to get her healthy groceries and favorite comfort foods delivered to us right at home without having to risk exposure.Even now, post-COVID, Instacart still saves the day for me. I live in Brooklyn, and there are…

Grand Theft Auto 6 could be one of the most expensive games ever in terms of its budget, and this kind of investment may only be sustainable for a small group of games, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an interview.Speaking to Bloomberg, Zelnick giant investments only make sense for “massive blockbusters,” and “that’s super hard to do.” Of course, GTA 6 is expected to be one of those games, but the industry overall is in for even tougher times ahead if production costs keep ramping up.”We certainly can’t deal with exponential growth–we probably can’t even deal with linear growth–in…
