If you were to ding Apple’s privacy credentials in one move, you could do worse than to launch AirPods with cameras. They’re in the late stages of testing with Apple employees as part of an “AI device push.”However, a source who asked to remain anonymous because they are not authorized to speak publicly…

As public backlash to the seeming omnipresence of artificial intelligence intensifies, the collective quest to weed out—and reject—telltale signs of its use continues. One of the first casualties, to my dismay, was em dashes—which are a great, and very human form of punctuation, by the way! There’s also the “rule of threes,” which is meant to scan as rhythmic, but often comes across predictable, hackish, and stale. And, of course, there are the clunky grammatical constructions of the “not X, but Y” variety. Now certain fonts and typefaces—specifically serifs—seem to be defining (and giving away) AI, both in actual software, and in…

A 2025 analysis of over 22,700 electric vehicles across 21 models found that average battery capacity loss was about 2.3 percent per year, according to the telematics company Geotab. That translates to such batteries still having more than 81 percent of their original capacity after eight years. Waymo’s current fleet of nearly 4,000 vehicles mainly consists of Jaguar I-Pace electric vehicles that have a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery. The company has also begun rolling out the Ojai robotaxi made by the Chinese automotive brand Zeekr with a 93 kWh battery. “Put a little haircut on that in terms of degradation…
Some of you might remember the original Google Glass smart glasses and the massive privacy issues surrounding the tech back in 2013. It was so bad that Google decided to stop producing and selling Glass in 2015. Now, Ray-Ban Meta glasses are facing very similar problems. According to WIRED, there’s a code inside Meta’s companion app, which appears to be designed to identify people by their faces, using the front camera.Hidden NameTag found in Ray-Ban Meta companion app Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses could potentially scan and record your face data. | Image by Meta The hidden NameTag points toward a new…
Is there anything quite like the summer game reveal season? First with E3 and now with Summer Game Fest and all the associated publisher-led events, early June is the time when the industry shows off its biggest games. As players, it’s also the time when we set absolutely unrealistic expectations and have our hopes crushed underfoot. We all have our perpetual picks for a game we hope to see, but know that we probably won’t. For a long time the classic example was Hollow Knight: Silksong, a game that became so notorious for fan hype and a disappointing no-show that…
