Elon Musk’s SpaceX committed to spending over $2.8 billion in recent months to buy gas turbines to power data centers for its artificial intelligence unit, the company revealed in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. The relatively large investment shows that Musk is continuing to double down on gas turbines, even after SpaceX’s use of them prompted public complaints, a lawsuit, and regulatory inquiries into whether the company may be polluting the air with carbon emissions and dodging environmental requirements.A shortage of electricity is the leading constraint on an otherwise roaring data center boom happening across the US. Portable gas turbines—generators that…
Another update, another bug for Spotify users worldwide. This time the bug affects CarPlay users and displays the wrong song info when your iPhone is connected to your car, Android Headlines reports. The name of the song, the artist, and the album all differ from what you’re really hearing through the speakers.Song info is wrong when using Spotify on CarPlayApparently, multiple complaints from users on Reddit and on the company’s official forums describe a strange bug where the song info either lags one song behind or is plain wrong. In some cases launching Spotify on CarPlay results in a blank…
Anthropic has agreed to pay SpaceX $1.25 billion per month through May of 2029 for access to cloud computing infrastructure, a long-awaited US regulatory filing revealed on Wednesday. In other words, Anthropic will be sending a rival artificial intelligence lab roughly $15 billion a year, an extraordinary sum that demonstrates how access to compute has become one of the defining bottlenecks in the race to develop advanced artificial intelligence.Anthropic and SpaceX announced a deal earlier this month that gives the Claude developer access to GPUs at Colossus and Colossus II, a pair of data centers straddling Tennessee and Mississippi with…
It’s been nearly six years since the release of Genshin Impact, a game that was originally intended for release on PlayStation 4, PC, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. Its September 2020 launch saw it appear on the first four of those platforms, and it has since gotten a dedicated PS5 version and come to Xbox Series consoles. The Nintendo Switch version, however, has been MIA this whole time, though dataminers think they’ve found a clue suggesting its release might finally be imminent. This comes from Genshin Impact leaker Lunar Kuroo posting on Telegram and reshared on Reddit below. According to…
Along with John Ternus, Apple will also be celebrating a new flagship lineup this September. Normally, I’d say it would be headlined by the iPhone Pro Max, which has historically been the most anticipated iPhone, but this year, the show will definitely be stolen by the foldable iPhone. However, it will certainly price out most potential buyers, and being a first-gen product means it wouldn’t enjoy nearly the same amount of popularity as the large conventional iPhone 18 Pro Max. Rumored upgrades for this device this year include a main camera with variable aperture, a more efficient display panel, a larger battery,…
US lawmakers plan to introduce an amendment Thursday at a House committee markup hearing that would prohibit any recipient of federal highway funding from using automated license plate readers for any purpose other than tolling—a sweeping restriction that, if adopted, would bring an immediate end to state and local ALPR programs across the United States. The amendment, obtained first by WIRED, is sponsored by Representative Scott Perry, a Pennsylvania Republican and Freedom Caucus member, and Representative Jesús “Chuy” García, an Illinois progressive whose state has become a flash point in the national fight over ALPR misuse. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee…
Oi! The Boys has wrapped its 40-episode run spanning seven years with a series finale that will be talked about for years, for better and for worse. Season 5 episode 8 was not everything I wanted it to be, but it was enough for where the show had gotten. Not everyone agrees. While some fans found it a nice surprise given how much they feared the show was careening off the tracks, others remain unsatisfied with how many loose threads were left dangling in the wind. If you haven’t already watched the finale, and somehow still haven’t been spoiled on…
T-Mobile continues to relentlessly pursue its digitalization strategy, weaving T-Life into every corner of the customer experience. As expected, the company will reportedly soon require nearly all transactions to be completed through the app, which could spark a customer backlash and leave front-line employees playing the role of corporate scapegoats.T-Life is unavoidable Even more T-Mobile tasks will have to be completed in T-Life from August. | Image by Reddit user tpsi_xoxo Starting August 1, all upgrades and line additions must be completed within T-Life.Currently, T-Mobile allegedly requires nearly 90 percent of upgrades and line activations to go through the app,…
The first trailer dropped in January and gave us He-Man’s origin story. When he was 10 years old, Adam Glenn, prince of Eternia and our future He-Man, crash-landed on Earth—the home planet of his ex-astronaut mother, Queen Marlena, who sent him there for protection from the forces of Skeletor. The now-grown Adam is an office drone with a penchant for nerd culture who has been searching online for his magic sword, convinced it will show him “the way home” so that he can finally confront Skeletor. In March, a second trailer brought He-Man back to Eternia and reunited him with…
Remedy Is Making Some Big Changes In The Next Control Game Control was a third person action shooter set in the same world as Alan Wake, albeit with a very different spin. The shape-shifting gun was certainly a unique addition and while plenty of games have psychic powers to gain, Control did a good job at including them and made several optional. You didn’t need them to finish the game but they were fun to play with. The game was somewhat non-linear as you could wander freely except for areas you couldn’t unlock until you’d progressed in the game, though…
